Who we are

Movement is built by a small UK team with decades of experience working across trade unions, political parties and not for profits.

Between us, we’ve been privileged to work with many trade unions including NEU, UNISON, GMB, CWU, Equity, NASUWT, NUJ, Prospect, TSSA, Community and Unite.

We’re not big-tech, we’re real people offering software as a service to progressive movements.

What we do

We mobilise your movement with an all-in-one tool so that anyone in your organisation can send comms with ease. Whether it’s email, WhatsApp, SMS or phone banking, we give you a synced up way to get the right message to the right people. Our analytics are clear and accessible and we work to ensure Movement works with your CRM and tech-stack.

What we stand for

YOUR ALLY FOR CHANGE

Only together do we all win. We help you mobilise and unify through our software and our content.

SIMPLICITY FOREVER

What makes our product stand out is that it’s simple to use and it’s effective. We make sure that simplicity is at the heart of everything.

REAL PEOPLE FOR REAL PEOPLE

In the end this is all about people coming together. We show the faces of those involved from the ground up. We’re transparent about who we are too.

EXPERT SERVICE WHEN YOU NEED IT

Ourselves, a team of Union and NGO alumni, know how to win campaigns and help you do the same.

PROGRESSIVE TO THE CORE

We only work with progressive, forward thinking clients, who want to make a positive impact in the world.

The Team Behind the Movement

James

James worked as tech director at 38 Degrees before he then freelanced at a number of NGOs. These included SumOfUs (now called Eko), Get Up in Australia, and Greenpeace. He worked on the Equal Marriage Campaign in Australia which he sees as one of his greatest career wins. It was an example of peer-to-peer SMS and phone-banking being used to win a campaign. When he’s not working on Movement’s tech he’s usually found in the kitchen whipping up hearty stews, or his most recent masterpiece an almost vegan chocolate nemesis cake.

Co-Founder

Rich

Rich started his career in broadcasting. This was followed by a spell of being freelance and working across a number of NGOs. Following some years working with unions in the UK he and James set up Movement to address the campaign problems they’d seen during their careers.
Outside of campaigning Rich is a true Fantasy Football enthusiast having built machine learning tools to select the optimum team. By all means ask who he’s triple captaining.

Co-Founder

Andrew

Andrew is a campaigner. From tiny grassroots climate groups to massive NGOs like Greenpeace, he's blocked roads, occupied buildings and sent too many emails fighting for a better world.  He's worked at unions too, helping Unite use tech to boost their organising power, grow the union and win for workers.   Now he helps progressive organisations get excited about what Movement could do for them. He’s getting really into pilates too and, separately,  is training to be a psychotherapist.

Account Manager

Cathy

Cathy is a digital campaigner with a love of tech that makes an impact.

After supporting members of the public to  win campaigns at 38 Degrees, Cathy led UNISON’s campaign supporting NHS workers to get the pay rise they deserved and launched their cost of living campaign for all public sector workers. She supported workers with Organise, and made sure young people were heard at COP 26 with UNICEF.

Now Cathy supports clients to make the most of what Movement can do, ensuring organisers' lives are easier and opening up what is possible when it comes to tech and organising. Otherwise you can find her in the pottery studio or chanting for her local non-league team Dulwich Hamlet FC.
