How to upload a list of people
If you want to create a list of existing members, head to this guide to do this using membership numbers only.
Step 1: Prepare your CSV with your member data
Each CSV requires columns for Membership number, First name and Last name. Other data sets like email or phone number are optional. You can find the column headers for optional data sets in Step 3 of this guide and more information in this guide for supported columns.
You can use the same CSV to add new members and update details for existing members. If there is a member record with the membership number in the CSV it will update the record with the data in the CSV, if there is not a member record with the number a new record will be created.
If you are uploading or updating supporters and not your main membership data, upload this data in a separate CSV.
Step 2: Upload members or supporters
On the audience tab, select the Upload button on the top right. From the pop up select Upload members and supporters:
Step 3: Check your CSV
Make sure the header columns on your CSV match the column headers shown. Select First name, Last name and Membership number to confirm you have these required columns and click Select your file.
Step 4: Select your CSV
Select your CSV from your device.
Step 5: Review your data
If there is an issue with your data, you will see an error message with information on the issue. You can download a CSV of all the rows with errors to help you identify and resolve the issue with your data.
Select whether you would like to upload the people in your CSV as members or supporters. Members will be added to your core membership list. Supporters are separated from your membership list, so that you can contact them as part of external campaigns or communications.
Select whether you would like to create a list of everyone in this upload. This will allow you to make an audience of everyone in the CSV.
